There’s something about a crisp, clean, perfectly pressed dress shirt that draws attention and commands respect. Perhaps that’s why Oceanside Cleaners handles more than 8,000 dress shirts each month. Customers know they will get consistent, high-quality results that keep them looking their best.
Today, we’d like to let you have a “peek behind the curtain” at what goes into laundering each shirt. You may be surprised at all the steps it takes:
- Inspect for missing buttons — Before we start cleaning a shirt, we look for any missing or damaged buttons and replace them, free of charge, with the closest match.
- Pre-treat stains— We ask our customers to tell us about any stains and their origins. That ensures we apply stain-removing agents on all soiled areas and target the stains according to type. Typically, that includes sweat stains on the neck and underarms, but we also treat other substances like food and wine.
- Wash gently — We use only professional-grade detergents that clean, sanitize and brighten without causing fading or damage to the finish.
- Apply custom starch — We make our own starch to achieve the ideal crisp appearance without uncomfortable stiffness. (Don’t worry, if you don’t want any starch, just tell us.)
- Press — This is where a professional cleaner really shines. We make sure the finished shirt is free of wrinkles or puckers and has a smooth, rounded collar and cuffs and identically pressed sleeves without hard creases (unless you ask for those).
- Collar stays — After pressing the collar, we insert collar stays to retain the shape during transit.
- Hang or fold — We let you choose whether you want your shirts hung or folded for easy packing on your next business trip.
- Delivery — Once their orders are done, customers can request free delivery right to their doorstep.
With these steps, perfected over our 35-plus years in business, every shirt handed to a customer has the same professional appearance. Now that you know how we do it, you may never look at a freshly laundered dress shirt the same way again.
